Afrobeats superstars Davido and Burna Boy have sparked fresh reconciliation rumours after a video showed the two singers shaking hands at rapper Zlatan Ibile’s bachelor party in Lagos.
The encounter, which reportedly took place on Thursday night, October 22, has generated conversations across social media, with fans wondering whether the long-running tension between the two award-winning artistes could finally be easing.
According to reports by Pulse Nigeria and QED.NG, footage of the handshake circulated online on Friday, October 23. The moment has attracted attention because of the singers’ complicated history and their influence on the global Afrobeats scene.
How the Encounter Happened
The meeting took place during celebrations ahead of Zlatan Ibile’s wedding to his partner, Davita Lamai, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Zlatan has maintained professional relationships with both musicians. He collaborated with Davido on Osanle in 2018 and worked with Burna Boy on Killin Dem in 2019. The latter track won Best Collaboration at The Headies.
The handshake has led to speculation that the gathering may have provided an opportunity for the two stars to interact on better terms.
However, claims circulating online that the singers held a private conversation away from their entourages have not been independently confirmed. Neither Davido nor Burna Boy has publicly announced a reconciliation or commented on the encounter.
A Rivalry That Has Kept Fans Talking
Davido and Burna Boy previously had a working relationship, with connections dating back to the early stages of their careers. Davido appeared on Trumpet, from Burna Boy’s Best of Burn Series Vol. 1, while Burna Boy featured in the video for Davido’s hit song Dami Duro.
Their relationship became strained around 2020, as exchanges and social media posts fuelled speculation about a fallout. Davido’s song FEM also became part of the conversation, with listeners interpreting some of its lyrics as a possible response to Burna Boy.
Although Burna Boy appeared to suggest in 2021 that their disagreement had eased, tensions resurfaced in subsequent years, including another public exchange in 2024.
The latest handshake has therefore revived hopes among fans who would like to see the two artistes move beyond their differences.
Does the Handshake Mean They Have Reconciled?
For now, the encounter is a moment of public interaction, not confirmed proof that the feud has ended.
A handshake may signal courtesy, a willingness to engage or simply a moment of respect at a mutual friend’s celebration. Without statements from the artistes themselves, claims of a permanent reconciliation would be premature.
Nevertheless, given their standing in Afrobeats, any improvement in their relationship is likely to attract attention from fans across Nigeria and beyond.
Instacool will continue to follow the story as more verified details emerge.
What do you think? Does this handshake signal the beginning of peace between Davido and Burna Boy, or should fans wait for an official statement before drawing conclusions? Share your thoughts in the comments.
