Marvel fans have reason to look forward to another adventure with Star-Lord. Actor Chris Pratt has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Peter Quill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), although the studio has yet to reveal when or where the character will return.

Pratt shared the update during an appearance on The Bingeworthy podcast, where he discussed ongoing conversations with Marvel Studios executives Kevin Feige and Lou D’Esposito about bringing the character back.

According to reports published this week, Pratt said Marvel had taken concrete steps to fulfil the promise made at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.”

Star-Lord Is Not Finished Yet

Pratt first appeared as Peter Quill in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The character, a human raised among aliens, became a central figure in the franchise through his humour, leadership and complicated relationships with the other Guardians.

Over the years, Star-Lord appeared in several major Marvel productions, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The third Guardians film concluded with Peter returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather, while Rocket took on leadership of a new Guardians team.

That ending left the door open for another chapter in Peter Quill’s story.

Will He Appear in Avengers: Doomsday?

One of the biggest questions surrounding Star-Lord’s return is whether he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel’s upcoming crossover film scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.

The movie is expected to bring together characters from different corners of the MCU, including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and members of the X-Men franchise.

However, Pratt has not been officially announced as part of the film’s cast, and his confirmation of Star-Lord’s return does not establish that he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

Another possibility is a role in a later Marvel project, but no specific film or television appearance has been confirmed.

Pratt Has His Own Ideas for the Character

Pratt has previously revealed that he pitched Marvel executives his own ideas for Star-Lord’s future. His latest comments suggest that discussions about the character are progressing, even though the details remain confidential.

For fans, the announcement offers reassurance that Peter Quill’s story has not been abandoned. The unanswered question is how Marvel plans to bring him back and whether his next appearance will reconnect him with the original Guardians or place him in a larger Avengers storyline.

Until Marvel makes an official announcement, fans will have to wait for further details.

What do you think? Should Star-Lord return in Avengers: Doomsday, or would you prefer a new Guardians of the Galaxy adventure centred on Peter Quill?
